The Dent du Chat via ferrata is a vertical adventure located in the Savoie region of France, offering exceptional panoramic views of Lac du Bourget and the surrounding Alps.

Location: The Dent du Chat via ferrata is located near the village of Bourdeau, on the steep slopes of the mountain of the same name, the Dent du Chat. This mountain majestically overlooks Lac du Bourget, France’s largest natural lake.

Level of difficulty: This via ferrata is reputed to be of easy to medium difficulty. It is therefore suitable for beginners or those with some climbing or via ferrata experience. It includes vertical sections, overhead passages and more technical sections.

Length and duration: The Dent du Chat via ferrata has a vertical drop of around 400 metres. The duration of this via ferrata varies according to the pace and experience of the participants, but it can take between 2 and 3 hours to complete.

Itinerary: The via ferrata route begins with a vertiginous but easy traverse. The rungs are close together and suitable for children, with several planks to rest on while observing the landscape. Next comes a ladder that takes you down into a rift to reach the more bucolic, plant-filled section, which takes you back to the summit via a system of ledges and ladders. The course also offers spectacular views of Lac du Bourget and the surrounding mountains.

Necessary equipment: As with all via ferrata activities, it is essential to wear suitable equipment to ensure safety. This includes a helmet, harness, via ferrata belay system (lanyards with energy absorbers) and sturdy mountain boots.
